Kiteboarding Lessons
 

 

Introduction
Thank you for shopping at KSM! We hope your shopping experience is a pleasant one. When purchasing merchandise from KSM, you must affirm that you are an experienced kiteboarder or that you intend to take lessons from a certified kiteboarding instructor prior to using any equipment purchased from KSM.

Customer Service

If you're ordering on-line, please know that KSM is committed to providing its customers with excellent new and used products, which are tested and checked out by some of the best kiteboarding instructors/riders in the world. The KSM staff know you are well informed and our goal is to offer you the best price possible. KSM Guarantee

All products purchased from KSM have a 15-day satisfaction guarantee from the purchase invoice date. If the buyer is dissatisfied, for any reason, with a product purchased from KSM, KSM will issue the original purchaser a full refund of the purchase price of the unused and undamaged returned merchandise.

Return Policy
In an effort to continue to bring our customers quality products at a reasonable price, we require all returns to be made within 15 days of purchase invoice date and include all tags and receipts. Customer receives a full refund of the purchase price of the unused and undamaged product purchased from KSM, if returned within 15 days of purchase invoice date. All sales are final after 15 days. Customer is responsible for shipping and insurance charges for returned product and all returned items must display a KSM return authorization # or the merchandise will not be accepted. Authorizations are obtained from KSM by calling 808-873-0015 Sunday–Saturday, 9 am - 6 pm Hawaiian Standard Time or emailing info@ksmaui.com. (Please remember Hawaii is 6 hours behind East Coast time and 3 hours behind West Coast time.)

Shipping Policy
Shipping is via FedEx, therefore, a physical address is required. Shipments to USA locations arrive within 2-3 days but an additional 2 days of order processing may be required in some cases. (Note: Some orders may be shipped directly from our mainland USA suppliers rather than from KSM's Hawaii store.) All merchandise will be insured through FedEx for the purchase amount. It is the reponsibility of the customer to report any damaged merchandise to FedEx immediately. Customer would be responsible for return freight charges should 1) customer, or individual acting on behalf of customer, decline to take delivery of order or 2) if merchandise is undeliverable due to change of address or non-resonse to delivery notice.

Shipping Costs
FedEx compares the actual weight of a package to its dimensions (based on the formulas: length x width x height/194 for US shipments or length x width x height/166 for international shipments) and uses the greater of the two values to calculate the shipping charges. For this reason, the weight of an advertised product on the KSM website, which takes into account the dimensional weight, may differ from the actual weight on the FedEx shipping invoice for that product. International Orders 

Duties and/or taxes assessed on merchandise by the destination country is the responsibility of the buyer and would increase the cost of the order. KSM recommends checking with local authorities on any fees or local import tariffs prior to placing order. Customer would be responsible for return freight charges should 1) customer, or individual acting on behalf of customer, decline to take delivery of order or 2) if merchandise is undeliverable due to change of address or non-resonse to delivery notice.

Warranties 

Most manufacturers offer a 90-day kite warranty and a 6-month kiteboard warranty for manufacturing defects. To file a claim, please provide: 1) photos that clearly show the defect and serial number of the product; 2) a copy of the original purchase receipt; and 3) an accurate description of problem and the circumstance in which problem occurred. To inquire whether damaged gear you purchased from KSM is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, please contact KSM. Customer is responsible for shipping charges for damaged product and all returned items must display a KSM return authorization # or the  merchandise will not be accepted. Gift Certificates
We hope to offer the option of redeeming Gift Certificates online in the near future. At this time Gift Certificates must be redeemed at KSM on Maui, Hawaii. KSM gift certificates are valid for 12 months from date of purchase. Please contact us prior to this end date if you wish to extend this period. Gift Certificate refunds are made only to the original purchaser.

Lesson Cancellation Requirements

We require 48 hours notice prior to the lesson start to change or cancel your reservation. Reservations cancelled outside of 48 hours are fully refundable. Reservations cancelled with less than 48 hours notice don't allow enough time to resell the cancelled lessons and will be assessed a 50% cancellation fee. No-shows will be assessed a 100% cancellation fee. If you need to change or cancel your reservation please provide us 48 hours notice prior to your lesson time and we will be happy to accommodate you. If KSM cancels a lesson due to weather and KSM is unable to reschedule lessons due to lack of available instructors, KSM would refund lesson charge in full, provide a store credit or a raincheck as requested by the client.

Lesson Minimum Charge
We have a 3-hour minimum lesson charge on any given day. Clients wanting to take more than 3 or 4 hours of lessons per day would need to book a morning and afternoon lesson for the same day. We don't encourage that practice, however, as most students begin to become fatigued or lose their concentration after 4 hours of lessons, thereby increasing the probablity for making mistakes, which could result in accidents.

Lesson Meet Time and Place
Lesson start time is seleted during the reservation process and we encourage clients to arrive to the KSM office at least 15-30 minutes prior to the selected start time. This gives KSM staff an opportunity to further discuss client's goals and past kiting experience, if any, and to take care of any necessary transactions, such as liability waiver signing and any payments not already completed during the on-line lesson purchase. Also, if KSM clients wish to view our instructional DVD prior to the lesson (video viewing with an instructor is a free service), arriving 30 minutes prior to the start time would allow sufficient time. As a reminder, we encourage all beginners to select the 10am-2pm lesson to avoid the stonger afternoon winds, more crowded ocean, and to avoid having to stare into the afternoon sun.

Lesson Vouchers

Lesson vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase. Please contact us prior to this end date if you wish to extend this period. Lesson vouchers are refundable if lessons are canceled outside of 48 hours prior to the lesson start.
