Accidents happen and equipment failures occur therefore, insurance is important for kiters who travel outside of their home country or kiters who never even leave their own back yard. The coverage is for third party liability, personal accident and salvage and is a kiteboarding specific policy - designed by kiters for kiters and is issued through Lloyd's of London.

The IKO Kiteboarder Insurance program allows all IKO certified kiteboarders, Level 1, 2 or 3, to buy their insurance on the web with the IKO. This insurance is for private/recreational kiteboarders and does NOT cover kiteboarding instructors who are teaching. For this, instructors should enter the IKO pro area and take out instructor insurance.

Online insurance enrollment and payment at IKO is easy and coverage is worldwide including USA and Canada and costs $78.85 USD. If you received IKO certification from KSM, use our IKO School ID, S312, when registering for insurance. Enrollment in the IKO private insurance program also qualifies members for prize drawings every 2 months. October prize is slated to be a 1 week hotel stay for 2 in El Guna, Egypt.
