"The main reason I enrolled my 15 year old son in Kiteboarding School of Maui was because I knew that Martin's first concern would be his safety. Secondly, I knew that he would be sensitive to the local environment. Finally, I wanted to support someone who was so uncommonly committed to helping make Maui a better place for all of us."

Kiteboarding Questions

How many kites do I need?

The number of kites you need is dependent on the conditions at your local beach and your skill level with the kite. Ideally you should have 3 kites: a light wind kite (9 to 17 mph), a moderate wind kite (17 to 25 mph), a high wind kite (25 to 30 mph). Now days with the new bow kite designs most riders around the globe can get away with 2 kite sizes...12.0 and 16.0. In the windier spots like the Canary Islands, Columbia River Gorge, and Maui (to name a few) riders would need sizes 9.0 and 12.0 and for smaller sized kiters 7.0 and 9.0 would be the call.
